How does this Enneagram test work?

The Enneagram describes nine types, each built around one core motivation: what a person wants most and fears most. This quiz has 9 statements for each type, 81 in all, mixed together so you never see two from the same type in a row. You rate each one from “Very unlike me” to “Very like me”.

Each type gets a score from 0 to 100: the average of your answers to its 9 statements. Your main type is the highest score. Your likely wing is the stronger of the two types next to it on the circle. Every type has the same number of statements, so no type starts ahead.

How should I answer?

  • Think about how you have been for most of your life, not just this week.
  • Answer for what is true, not for what sounds best. No type is better than another.
  • Go with your first honest reaction. About ten minutes is plenty.

What will I see afterward?

Your results page shows your main type and nickname, your likely wing, your top three types and all nine scores. It also shows where your type tends to go under stress and in growth. You can save a picture of your result or copy a private link. Every part is free.

Is this Enneagram quiz scientific?

No, and we want to be clear about that. The Enneagram is a popular framework for thinking about motivation, but it is not a scientifically validated measure, and research on it is limited. We built this quiz for self-reflection and conversation. The Big Five, which our main personality test measures, is the model that researchers study most, so take that one for a scientifically tested profile.

Who wrote these questions?

We did. Every statement was written by The Personality Test in 2026, fresh from the ideas behind each type. None was copied or reworded from another Enneagram test. A second, separate review then read every statement to check that it was clear and that none looked like a well-known published item. Read more about the nine Enneagram types.

Your results say so plainly. We list first the type you answered “Very like me” for most often, but both are worth reading. Ask which core motivation feels most true across your whole life.
